General System Theory

In fact, similar concepts, models and laws have often
appeared in widely different fields, independently and
based upon totally different facts.

There are many instances where identical principles were
discovered several times because the workers in one field
were unaware that the theoretical structure required was
already well developed in some other field.

General system theory will go a long way towards avoiding
such unnecessary duplication of labor.
